Sinabi ni Dr. Fauci na miyembro rin ng US Task Force on coronavirus na “ It is very important proof of concept because what it is proving is that a drug can block this virus. The data shows that Remdesivir has a clear-cut significant positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery. ”

Batay sa report ng National Institutes of Health na siyang nagsagawa ng Adaptive COVID19 Treatment Trial na nagsimula noong February 21, sa 1,063 coronavirus patient na na-hospitalized sa buong mundo lumalabas na napabilis ng Remdesivir ang recovery period ng mga tinamaan ng sakit na nabigyan ng naturang gamot. Mas mabilis anya ito sa lahat ng gamot na isinailalim sa clinical testing. Dahil sa positibong resulta, inatasan na ni US President Donald Trump ang U.S. Food and Drugs Administration na agad na magpalabas ng emergency use ng Remdesivir.

Nakipag-ugnayan na ang US FDA sa kompanyang Gilead Sciences Inc. na siyang gumawa ng Remdesivir na magsagawa ng mass production para agad na magamit ng mga doctor. Nilinaw ni Dr Fauci na hindi pa masabing ito na ang gamot kontra sa COVID19 pero maari daw itong pansamantalang gamitin batay sa positibong resulta na ipinapakita nito sa mga pag-aaral.
